Our treatments utilise effective advancements in the latest technology to effectively deal with all skin conditions and problems. We build rejuvenation from the bottom up, slow down and reverse the skin’s ageing process, delivering beautiful healthy, strong and youthful skin.

All treatments begin with a one-on-one consultation with your Skin Nerd this initial consultation is an opportunity for us to confront all contributing factors to your skin problems such as your physical health, lifestyle, skin care regimes and even the psychological consequences of living with skin problems. After your first consultation, we will prescribe the best treatment plan for your particular skin problems.

Pigmentation is the result of the skins defensive mechanisms being wrongly triggered. There are two forms of pigmentation ‘passive and inflammatory’. Pregnancy, hormonal imbalances, and medications are the main contributors to ‘passive’ pigmentation. In turn ‘inflammatory’ pigmentation is the result of the skins natural defence mechanisms responding to trauma. It is more than what just determines the colour of your skin, the melanin cells that generate pigment are a defensive mechanism created by the body to protect our DNA. However, when the skin and body systems are dysfunctional any form of trauma can stimulate melanin production.

Acne is a chronic inflammatory condition of the hair follicle and the sebaceous gland; acne closely reflects the state of the body’s hormonal and immunity systems. As a result, pustules, cysts, blackheads, and scars can form and there is no single cause. There are both genetic or external triggers such as hormonal imbalances, stress, medications, lifestyle, and climate conditions.

Skin pores allow the skin to ‘breathe’. Each pore contains a hair follicle and contains sebaceous glands that produce sebum. Hormones play a role in stimulating these glands to produce more abundant quantities of sebum. That is why the pores on your face, most specifically those on your nose, forehead, and cheeks may appear larger than they do on other areas of your body. In adolescent, and in adults who are prone to acne, open pores may become clogged, turning into blackheads or whiteheads. Aging skin containing less collagen may also take on the appearance of having larger, open pores.

Rosacea is a common skin condition that often begins with a tendency to blush or flush more easily. The redness and the visibility of certain blood vessels enlarge, giving the cheeks, nose a flushed appearance. Factors including genetic, environmental, vascular, and inflammatory factors. Skin damage due to chronic exposure to UV plays a part. Rosacea can result in red spots (papules) and sometimes pustules. This condition may also result in red areas, dry flaking and swelling of the area.

Reactive skin can be caused by a whole range of dysfunctions both within the skin and within the body, but the common thread is inflammation that is created. Sensitised skin is a symptom that the skin is in a reactive state with impaired barrier function. It is believed reactive conditions can be caused by environmental and internal factors. Skins that can be reactive can become red and hot very easily, often with the use of products or touch.

Scars are a normal part of the skin’s healing process; scars may seem like a permanent feature of your skin, telling stories of past adventures or traumas. There are many resurfacing treatments designed to remove the scar tissue and to stimulate collagen production, however with all skin conditions though, in the case of scarring not been addressed then the remodelling procedure will just produce the exact same unhealthy tissue. There are several different factors that can affect the appearance of your scars and determine how easily you scar, including skin tone, age, location of injury and hormones.

  • Stretchmarks
  • Acne scarring

At Skintrition we work with a customised treatment plan, based upon the extent and depth of the scarring to evaluate what our processes will be in treating the type of scar tissue.

Signs of ageing are a result of the skins function declining. The two fundamental causes are Intrinsic and extrinsic types. Intrinsic ageing is genetically and partially due to hormonal factors such as decline of estrogen and other hormones that decline the skins quality. Extrinsic ageing is related to all external factors such as UV, environmental damage, diet, and free radicals. As collagen slows down, the elastin fibres begin to breakdown over large areas of tissue and our dead cells are building up. An ageing skin will show signs of fine lines, loss of volume, colour change and texture change.
